Attention baseball and softball families:
Due to a scheduled tournament at MTCO Park next week, the baseball and softball open fields have been canceled for the week of 6/23. Baseball will have one tomorrow, 6/19, and pick back up on 7/1. Softball has rescheduled their open field to 7/8 from 11:30-1 PM at MTCO Park.
This past Saturday, some of the cross country team headed to Peoria to cheer at the Steamboat Classic. We even got to cheer on our very own Mrs. Poole!
Girls basketball will be hosting an open gym for girls entering 6-8th grade tomorrow in the JDS from 3:30-5 PM.
Boys baseball (for students entering 6-8 grade) will begin having open field opportunities weekly on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 AM- 10 AM at MTCO park! These will begin tomorrow, June 10th. Please reach out to coach Travis Grant at grantt@ghills69.com with any questions.

-Tryouts- Monday, July 28th & Tuesday, July 29th 9:00-11:00 AM *Meet at MTCO Park
-Open Field- Wednesday, June 25th from 3-5 PM
Cross-Country: Grades 5-8
-1st Practice- Monday, August 4th 8:00-9:30 AM
-Run-Club- Tuesday, July 8th. We will run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00-9:00 am meeting at Door 9 outside of Mr. Mair’s office. We will be running around the middle school, Whispering Oaks, and at Great Oaks Community Church. Summer Run Club is not mandatory for those runners interested in joining Cross Country. This is open to students in grades 5-8.

*Sports physicals may be turned in at the MS office daily from 8-3 throughout the summer or left in the drop box outside of the MS. All athletes must have one for tryouts!

The 7th grade enjoyed their end-of-the-year field trip at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago yesterday! Some of the highlights were the U505 submarine, Science Storms, Blue Paradox, Farm Tech, Maze of Mirrors, Space Center, and Extreme Ice.

Last Friday we celebrated our Final Golden Lunch ticket winners! These students go above and beyond to be polite, helpful, and follow the 4B's in the lunch room!

The 7th grade went to the Illinois River on Friday for their service field trip. They cleaned up trash along the river, which included anything from plastic bottles and Styrofoam containers to tires and a car bumper. All of the trash was counted and recorded by different types and the data was sent to National Geographic as part of a debris study for the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. There was an extra bonus as the students got to witness one of the demolition explosions for the old McCluggage Bridge.
