Dear Staff, Students, and School Community,
As I end a school year for the final time after thirty-two years in education and the last thirteen as your superintendent, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude and reflection. What began in Germantown Hills School District #69 as a professional journey has become the most rewarding chapter of my life, largely because of each one of you.
To our dedicated staff—teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, counselors, office staff, custodians, food service workers, bus drivers, and every individual who keeps our schools running smoothly—you have been the backbone of our District's success. Your unwavering commitment to education despite countless challenges has inspired me daily. You have demonstrated what it truly means to put students first. The countless extra hours you've invested, the innovative instruction you've developed, and the compassion you've shown have made our District a place where learning thrives. I would also like to extend my best wishes to our other two retirees, Mr. Dan Arnold and Mrs. Rhonda Anderson, and congratulate them on outstanding careers.
To our incredible students—past, present, and future—you have been my greatest teachers. Your curiosity, resilience, and hope for the future have fueled my passion for education. I've watched you grow, overcome obstacles, and achieve remarkable successes. From kindergartners taking their first steps into our hallways to 8th graders getting their diplomas, you have filled these years with purpose and joy. Remember that your education is not just about grades or test scores but about becoming thoughtful citizens who will shape our world.
To our parents and community members—thank you for entrusting us with your children and for your partnership in their education. Your support at school events, participation in District initiatives, and advocacy for educational excellence have been invaluable. Together, we have weathered storms and celebrated victories, always with our students' best interests at heart.
As I reflect on our achievements together, I'm proud of the ways we've strengthened our academic programs, expanded opportunities for all students, modernized our facilities, and built a culture of belonging. Yet I know that our greatest accomplishment has been creating an environment where every person feels valued and every student believes in their potential.
Education is never static—it evolves as our world changes. I am confident that under new leadership of Dr. Adam Brumbaugh, this district will continue to innovate and excel. The foundation we've built together is strong, and the future is bright.
Though I am stepping away from this role, education will forever remain in my heart. I will always be your champion and cheerleader, watching with pride as this District continues to flourish.
Please have a wonderful summer, and thank you for the best thirteen years of my career!
With deepest gratitude and unwavering belief in our District,
Dan Mair, Superintendent
Germantown Hills School District #69 (2012-2025)
