2025- 2026 Volleyball Tryouts
Who: 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girls who have a current physical on file with the office (physicals are good for one calendar year) are eligible to try out for volleyball. The exception to this is girls currently on the Cheer or Dance Teams. School Board policy states that girls cannot play volleyball and be a part of the Cheer or Dance Teams during the same school year. GHMS chooses 3 separate teams for volleyball (a 6th grade team, a 7th grade team, and an 8th grade team).

Open Gym: There will be one final open gym scheduled for Saturday, December 6th in the West Gym. The 6th grade will practice from 9-10:30 and the 7th and 8th grade will practice from 10:30-Noon.

2:30-4:30 6th Grade Tryouts in the West Gym
4:15-6:00 8th Grade Tryouts in the West Gym
Team Announced:
Once tryouts for all 3 grade levels are completed, the 3 teams will be posted on the school’s website by 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10th. It is extremely important to check the website as practices will begin right away.
First Practice:
The first practice will be announced via the school’s website along with the players chosen for the team.
Practices:
Once the team is chosen, a practice schedule will be handed out. Practices will be held Monday-Friday and some Saturdays. The time frame for practices would be either from 2:45-4:15 PM or 4:15-5:45 PM. Practices on Saturdays are usually held during the morning hours. All practices are mandatory. The only exception to this is practices scheduled over Christmas Break, which are not mandatory. The practice schedule for the month of December will again depend on the success of the basketball team. Much of December’s schedule will be provided on a weekly basis until after the completion of the basketball season. All other schedules will be provided on a monthly basis, including game, bus, and practice times.
Mandatory Parent Meeting:
Once the team is chosen, there will be a mandatory parent meeting for parents of team members. We need at least one parent in attendance for each player. The date and time of this meeting will be announced at a later date.
